When trying to choose the correct option for an NCLEX question, remember that both Maslow's and Airway-Breathing-Circulation theories are powerful indicators of the best option.
In a given situation, your patient may be noticeably upset, and one of your answer alternatives will most likely include quieting or stabilizing the patient down.
Keep in mind that as indicated by Maslow's chain of importance of necessities, the patient's physiological needs should precede his or her psycho-social needs. As mentioned above, at this point, the Airway-Breathing-Circulation tandem become possibly the most important factor in nailing down the right answer.
